Project Description
This branding project holds a special place in my heart as it serves both as an assignment and a personal tribute to my former high school. Having been a part of the basketball varsity team during my time there, this project reignited my school spirit and allowed me to contribute to my former team as an alumni.
Since it was my first branding project in College, to develop a deep understanding of the client's identity, objectives, and competitive landscape, extensive research was undertaken. This step taught me the process of gaining valuable insights into the client's values, hence I can create a moodboard that reflected the expected outcome of the project.
Research
Drawing from my sophomore year story of the barn owl's classroom visit and the Hogwarts-like architecture of the school, the barn owl became the perfect symbol to represent the team's spirit and resilience. The logo, portraying a barn owl spreading its wings before a basketball, embodies the grace and agility of the team while showing off its sporting prowess.

Through this rebranding project, the team received a fresh, modern look that captured their essence and ignited a new sense of pride.Despite the barn owl traditionally being associated with bad luck in Vietnamese culture, the CVA basketball team embraced it as a symbol of victory. The bird became a powerful representation of triumph and success.
Sketching Phase
In 2020, this project was a milestone in my college journey, providing invaluable lessons in creativity, finding inspiration, conducting thorough research, and adapting to challenges thanks to the guidance of my graphic design professor. It remains one of my proudest works at the beginning of my career.
